THE CHILTERNS

This roof terraced landscape scheme for the prestigious Galliard Homes, The Chilterns residence draws inspiration from London in the 1960s and the Beatles Apple boutique which was located on the corner.

Psychedelic flower power typified by the Beatles Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band album cover and their Apple boutique with the flamboyant mural (later removed to be painted white) began to make way for a more modernist approach. This is most demonstrated by The Beatles album covers between 1967 and 1968.

The planting scheme has been designed to reflect this: Evergreen areas of restful modernist green with multi-stemmed white flowering medium shrubs. In between these green planting zones are more vibrant planting scheme of flowering plants using tones of burgundy, copper and pinks with dots of white and purple during the summer months.

Overall this gives a simple layout scheme which balances significant planting detail and year round interested from all views. The colour scheme has been chosen to complement the interior design by Rabih Hage.
