FOREST SCHOOL – SAYERS CROFT

The Wildlife Garden is open to the public and also used by local schools as part of the early years ‘Forest Schools’ sessions run by Sayers Croft part of Westminster City Council.  We were asked to refresh and invigorate the design for this one acre site and complement the other forest school areas already created: Bluebell Glade and Edible Garden.

In this space children get to experience nature and wildlife as part of their school curriculum.  The pond surrounds have been replanted with native plants to greatly increase the biodiversity of the area and encourage wildlife – it is already alive with dragonflies, pond skaters, newts and frogs! We worked with Hazelwood Landscapes as a specialist on the pond and planting.   We added pathways, a sculpture trail, new trees, plants and a meadow area for the wildlife and areas for the children to make campfires and build dens.  Informational signage was refreshed to support learning in the space. We worked with Vista Landscaping the grounds maintenance contractor for Paddington Recreation Ground.
